Your Data You have the right to "be forgotten"

The data you supply ableSEO through any means is likely to be stored on our systems, either online in the cloud, on the website, or locally.

You should be aware that as a customer of ableSEO or someone who has submitted data to us, you have the right for this data to be deleted (being called the right to be forgotten in some circles).

Why do we need personal and business data?

We need personal data such as customer information for contact purposes, accounting and regular administration. We also need business data for many reasons, such as login information and FTP access information, to access your website and databases to update and upgrade information on your behalf.

An example is a website upgrade: Customers might supply ableSEO with log-in details to their hosting company to enable ableSEO to carry out a backup of their website files along with database files (and even mailboxes on request, during the latest server upgrades).

So, what do you need to do?

If you no longer require the services of ableSEO now or in the future, you can ask us to delete the data we hold about you and your business, including backed up data.

What happens if you email asking for deletion of your data?

You should bear in mind that if you have chosen for your data to be deleted we have 1 month to respond and delete it. Your right is not absolute, as we may have the right to retain some data in certain circumstances. If we refuse a request, we are aware we need to provide information to individuals when we do so.

What happens if you let us keep your data?

If you are a current customer, it is highly likely that you would want us to keep your information. If you are a previous customer but would still like us to keep you on our system including backups, then let us know via email.

Once you’ve told us, we will keep your data as safe as we can. It will be uploaded to a secure encrypted cloud storage area. A local copy may also be kept for backup reasons.

If, at any time in the future, you wish your data (or parts of it) to be deleted, then please let ableSEO know and this will be carried out as per our responsibilities.

What if ableSEO deletes your data but you come back as a customer?

If we delete your data and you come back to us, it’s not the end of the world. We’ll just create you as a new customer and download data as necessary.

Where personal data is included in graphics design work, such as business cards for example, ableSEO reserves the right to keep these designs in case of future re-ordering of stationary.

To get in touch with us in order to delete your data held with us, click the contact button below.
